Day 1

MADIKWE PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Madikwe Game Reserve, a 75,000-hectare malaria-free wildlife sanctuary in South Africa's North West Province, houses diverse animals, birds, and plants, renowned as a Big 5 safari spot. Established in 1991 within what was once Bophuthatswana, it transformed from arid farmland to a wildlife haven post a feasibility study. Operation Phoenix relocated 8,000+ animals, initiating the world's largest wildlife relocation. This included moving entire elephant herds and introducing endangered species like African wild dogs, spotted hyenas, hippos, and lions. Today, it boasts 60+ mammal species, including the Big 5, and over 300 bird species, marking a conservation success.

Travel Johannesburg to Madikwe

At Johannesburg International Airport you will meet a representative of Federal Air who will transfer you to the Federal Air hangar.

Board the scheduled seat-in-charter flight to Madikwe, landing at the Madikwe East Airstrip.

A game drive vehicle will be waiting for you at the airstrip to transfer you to the lodge.

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge - Luxury Suite (3 nights)

Traversing over 75 000 hectares, Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge is situated on a hill, in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Ingeniously set amongst boulders and age-old Tamboti trees, the lodge offers guests the utmost in luxury and hospitality.

Madikwe Hills Main Lodge boasts 10 supremely spacious and luxurious suites. A cosy living room with a huge slate-clad chimney leads into the peaceful bedroom. It boasts a gigantic four-poster bed draped in generous layers of muslin.

Throw open all the floor-to-ceiling windows and retreat to a sunbed in the shade of an acacia tree, or grab a towel and jump into the personal plunge pool for the ultimate in relaxed game viewing. The cathedral-like bathrooms are ultra luxurious. A large deep tub takes centre stage in front of fold-back windows and a cavernous step-up circular shower is built into the opposite wall.

Activities at Madikwe Hills

GAME DRIVES & BUSH WALKS
Explore the wonders of the African bush in open game vehicles. Knowledgeable and professional rangers conduct early morning and late afternoon, or evening game drives in search of Africa’s big game and smaller wildlife.
On morning game drives, guests can choose to experience an up-close-and-personal glimpse of the African bush on foot with a gentle bush walk through the bush back to the Lodge. This experience provides exceptional close encounters with the smaller inhabitants of this wilderness.

Day 4

SABI SAND PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

The Sabi Reserve, established in 1898, evolved into the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in 1948, a pioneering hub for sustainable wildlife tourism in Southern Africa. It was formed after the originals landowners were excised due to the National Parks Act in 1926. It is the oldest private game reserve in South Africa and the birthplace of sustainable wildlife tourism in Southern Africa.

Lodges actively engage in environmental management, including wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching efforts, and habitat preservation.

Situated between the Sabi and Sand rivers, the reserve boasts a diverse ecosystem hosting abundant wildlife such as leopard, lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, hyena, and various antelope species.

Endangered species like Honey Badgers, Ground Hornbills, and Wild Dogs thrive here, offering visitors unique encounters with these rare creatures.

Travel Madikwe to Sabi Sand

Enjoy your morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast. After checking out you will be transferred to the airstrip to board your Federal Air seat-in-charter flight back to Johannesburg. You will connect immediately to a seat-in-charter flight from Johannesburg to the Sabi Sand airstrip, where you'll be met by a guide who will transfer you to the lodge.

Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve - Luxury Suite (3 nights)

A 5-star luxury lodge perched on a hill offers 8 spacious glass-fronted suites, each with private plunge pools and stunning views of a natural waterhole and the bush. The suites boast expansive interiors with air-conditioning, fans, and lavish bathrooms featuring double indoor and outdoor showers with scenic views. Beds are adorned with exquisite percale cotton linen, down duvets, and mosquito netting. Guests can unwind in a lounge with panoramic bush views, perfect for reading or wildlife spotting with binoculars.

Within 10 000 hectares of the spectacular Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Here the Big Five, (Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard), abound. The Reserve comprises over 10,000 hectares of incredibly diverse ecosystems making Leopard Hills the ideal destination to view plentiful game in its natural habitat.

The knowledgeable and professional ranger conducts early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives, in search of Africa’s big game. The latest game drive vehicles, specifically designed for Leopard Hills, have individual bucket seats with fold down armrests, ensuring optimum safety and comfort. Leopard Hills prides itself with the best rangers in the business, and they offer a safari experience like no other, from sightings of big game in their natural surroundings, to the smaller flora and fauna.

Travel Sabi Sands to Johannesburg

An early start to your final morning game drive in the Sabi Sands. After breakfast you will check out of Leopard Hills and be transferred back to the airstrip, to meet your Federal Air seat-in-charter flight to Johannesburg, and your onward journey.
