Travel Cape Town to Sabi Sands

Travel Cape Town to Sabi Sands

After breakfast check out of More Quarters and meet your transfer to Cape Town International Airport.

Board your direct flight from Cape Town to Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National Park.

On arrival at Skukuza Airport look for a representative of Lion Sands holding a nameboard, who will escort you to the game viewer vehicle for your road transfer through the reserve to the lodge.

The Sabi Reserve, established in 1898, evolved into the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in 1948, a pioneering hub for sustainable wildlife tourism in Southern Africa. It is the oldest private game reserve in South Africa and the birthplace of sustainable wildlife tourism in Southern Africa.

Lodges actively engage in environmental management, including wildlife monitoring, anti-poaching efforts, and habitat preservation.

Situated between the Sabi and Sand rivers, the reserve boasts a diverse ecosystem hosting abundant wildlife such as leopard, lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, hyena, and various antelope species.

Endangered species like Honey Badgers, Ground Hornbills, and Wild Dogs thrive here, offering visitors unique encounters with these rare creatures.

River Lodge is the origin of the Lion Sands safari. Living spaces include a Safari Lounge and Bar; Barista’s Station with artisanal coffees; Gallery; and OneLife MORE boutique.

The dining experience includes the traditional Boma; the signature Riverbed dinners and deck dining, in the shade of the trees and overlooking the Sabie River. Breakfast is a home-styled experience.

Lodge facilities include: a Spa & gym; a main swimming pool area; a ‘Memory Lab’; and a Firepit for gatherings beneath the stars.

The reserve conserves 5 000ha (12 500ac) of a habitat that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. Guests will see all of Africa’s iconic species on twice daily game drives – lion leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and zebra – along with a supporting cast of no less intriguing 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird.

With only six guests to a game viewer and exclusive traversing on the reserve the number of vehicles here is also limited. The game viewers have cushioned bucket seats, waterproof device holders, blankets and ponchos – and stop off at scenic spots for drinks and snacks.

For those who wish to experience the bush there is no better guided excursion than a walking safari. Guests are dropped in the thick of things and all five senses engage.

After breakfast you will be transferred in a game viewer back to Skukuza Airport.

You will board a scheduled charter flight from Skukuza Airport to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport, around 30 minutes flying time.

At Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport board your regional flight to Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe. This flight is just under 2 hours in duration.

Once you have purchased your visa and collected your luggage, move into the Arrivals Hall to meet your driver from Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel for your road transfer.

Victoria Falls, also known as ‘The Smoke That Thunders,’ boasts the world's largest single curtain of falling water. The Zambezi River spans 1.7km, dropping 100m into Batoka Gorge, creating massive columns of spray visible for miles. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, situated on the river's southern bank, hosts the historic Victoria Falls Hotel, established in 1904. Though no hotel offers a direct Falls view, this grand establishment showcases stunning gorge and bridge vistas, inviting visitors for high tea. It's a year-round destination, with peak water levels from April to June and lower levels October through December.
